The Enneagram is a model of personality based on 9 styles of interacting in the world. Each of these 9 personality types has a unique way of thinking, feeling and behaving. When working with the Enneagram, we are encouraged to learn our own personality “type”, and once we do, we suddenly see our patterns of interaction with startling clarity. And it’s not always pretty! It’s about seeing, accepting and integrating our blind spots…the things about ourselves that others probably know, but we are blind to.
The Enneagram is an invaluable tool in family dynamics. We like to think of ourselves as objective people, open and understanding. But the truth is, we usually see things from our own limited perspective and make a lot of assumptions of others based on our particular point of view. It’s as if we are wearing a pair of glasses with a specific colored lens, and operate out of the assumption that everyone else sees the same color.
Studying the Enneagram allows us to more accurately understand our own worldview, and increases our understanding of how differently others see and interpret the world. With this new understanding, compassion for our differences within the family is dramatically increased. Understanding the Enneagram helps with every relationship, but can make a profound impact on our partner-parent-child connections.
During this time of Covid-19, we’ve been in closer proximity to one another in our homes than ever before. We’ve most likely seen a side of ourselves and our family members that is not our best.
Join us Thursday, June 4th at 7 p.m. in learning a system that will deepen your understanding of yourself and those you love. The Enneagram will help you and your family-not just in this unusual season, but for your entire life!
