What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a safe, non-invasive, and drug-free treatment that utilizes advanced technology to both optimize and help you self-regulate your brain's performance. It is a type of biofeedback training of your brain that has been shown to improve the self-regulation of your brainwave patterns. It’s like physical therapy for your brain.
What is it effective to address?
Neurofeedback has been shown to be effective with addressing a range of sleep conditions and mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma responses.
We Offer 2 Types of Neurofeedback
- Infra-Low Frequency (ILF) Neurofeedback, also known as the “Othmer" technique of Neurofeedback.
- Micro Current (MCN) Neurofeedback, also known as LENS or IASIS Micro Current Neurofeedback.

Infra-Low Frequency (ILF) Neurofeedback vs Micro Current (MCN) Neurofeedback
ILF Neurofeedback
ILF Neurofeedback is a safe, non-invasive, sensitive form of biofeedback training for your brain that helps improve the self-regulation of your brainwave patterns. Through real-time, biofeedback in the form of visual and sound, and tactile signals, your brain “learns” how to self-regulate better. It has been shown to be effective with helping nearly two million people and is used and supported by over 10,000 clinicians across more than 40 countries. The ILF method has a solid amount of research behind it.
How ILF Neurofeedback Works
For ILF Neurofeedback, sensors are placed on your scalp to detect your brain's electrical activity (brain waves), and then through real-time, biofeedback in the form of visual and sound, and tactile signals, your brain “learns” how to self-regulate better.
The length of each session varies, however typically ILF will last between 20-45 minutes and MCN typically lasts 5-10 minutes.
MCN Neurofeedback
MCN Neurofeedback, also known as LENS or IASIS Micro Current Neurofeedback, helps to optimize and self-regulate your brain by sending brief stimulation to your brain helping the brain to self-regulate and shift from fixed patterns. The desired result is a calmer, more resilient nervous system, which will help promote an overall sense of well-being. Compared to other types of neurofeedback like ILF, MCN is known for working more rapidly. Neurofeedback practitioners have been using MCN Neurofeedback for over 15 years.
How MCN Neurofeedback Works
For MCN Neurofeedback, sensors are applied to the client’s scalp providing gentle electrical currents, which creates a temporary disruption in brainwave patterns, allowing the brain to self-regulate and shift from fixed patterns.
Clients typically don't feel anything negative from the sensors being placed on the scalp. While everyone experiences neurofeedback differently, most clients report feeling relaxed after a session and the client is fine to drive after the session.
What's Best for You
Which neurofeedback is up to each client, depending on their presenting symptoms. At CCPC, if you are seeking therapy combined with neurofeedback, please contact our Admin team to be scheduled with one of our therapists.
If you are interested in neurofeedback as a stand-alone treatment or are unsure which may be best for you, please contact Rob Harter at 435-776-5173 or email him at neurofeedback@ccofpc.org.
Like we offer for all of our counseling services, we have scholarships available, if cost is a factor that may prevent you from otherwise seeking help.
