A Basic Needs Assistance Story of Success
Mark came to CCPC at the end of August 2022 requesting a shower voucher. He was living outside in a tent and was needing some assistance. We got Mark a shower voucher, a hygiene kit, and some warm clothing as fall was approaching and temps were dropping. We introduced him to the food pantry and met with him regularly to check in on how things were going.
Not long after he received assistance Mark was hired at the Utah Olympic Park. UOP said they could give him temporary lodging at their hotel until their employee housing became available. We assisted him with a deposit for the employee housing in mid-September.
Shortly after, Mark came in to let his BNA Navigator know how the new housing was and said he was about to start his job. He was needing a haircut and beard trim for his first day of work and asked if we could help with that. We were able to help him get a haircut at Great Clips so he could be spiffed up and feel confident for his first day on the job.
Mark mentioned that although he doesn’t have issues with addiction, prior to connecting with CCPC he had just gotten into a difficult spot. During a recent check-in with Mark, he said that he loves his job at the UOP and that everyone is awesome and friendly. He also mentioned that he has been able to save up some money and he hopes to get a car this coming summer.
Throughout the time we’ve known and helped Mark, he has been so grateful and positive. He has focused his efforts to move forward and have a happier life. It’s been a pleasure working with him!
