Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern
Austin Ashcraft is completing his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, with graduation expected in December 2026. He also holds a Master of Science in Business Analytics from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Austin’s clinical experience includes individual, couples, group, and play therapy with clients across different life stages. He welcomes clients with varied backgrounds, identities, goals, and reasons for seeking counseling. His experience includes supporting people through trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, relationship and family conflict, behavioral compulsions, grief, anger, and major life transitions.
Austin also works well with people experiencing online or technology-related compulsive behaviors, including gaming, online gambling, pornography use, excessive social media use, and other virtual activities that interfere with relationships, responsibilities, or daily life.
Austin’s style is calm, collaborative, and straightforward. He helps clients understand the patterns affecting their emotions, relationships, and behavior while developing practical steps toward change. His training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, family systems, existential therapy, play therapy, grief counseling, and anger-management interventions. Austin is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through Trauma Recovery/Humanitarian Assistance Programs.
Austin is comfortable incorporating faith or spiritual values into counseling when clients want them to be part of the process.
Outside of counseling, Austin enjoys spending time with his wife and their pets, running, golfing, gaming, and exploring Utah’s outdoors.
