Back 2 School Basics

Ensuring Success in the Classroom

Back 2 School Basics meets the needs of families in Summit and Wasatch counties by relieving some of the financial burdens of back-to-school shopping. Back 2 School Basics serves roughly 1,600 students from Summit County, Wasatch County, and the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation in Ibapah, Utah.

Each participating child receives a $120 gift card to spend at Junction Commons, a new backpack, and school supplies of their choosing. This program is supported by volunteers who give of their time, donors who sponsor children, and by grant funding.

Back 2 School Basics 2026

August 4 & 5

In 2025, parents spent an average of $740 per child on back-to-school shopping. Imagine the strain this cost would put on families who were already struggling to make ends meet. This year, B2SB will focus on providing students with school essentials and hygiene items, and will include a community resource fair so parents can receive assistance with sports physicals, vaccinations, scholarship opportunities, mental health care, and more.

When students show up with a new outfit of their choosing, they show up confident. Each participating student receives a $120 gift card for use at participating Junction Commons stores and gets to choose a backpack and school supplies.

Join Our Hallway of Hope!

When you donate to Back 2 School Basics, you are setting up students for long-term success. We’d love to honor your gift by adding your name to our Hallway of Hope athlete event on August 4 and 5. Every donor’s name (or business name, if donating as a business) will be added to a B2SB logo and hung in the event space.
